Leicester City vs Newcastle United: Preview

Leicester look to cement their place in the top four with a clash against 17th place Newcastle United. A win for the Foxes would  keep them in third place and steer them eight points clear of fifth placed West Ham.

Newcastle are nine points clear from the relegation zone and a win for the Magpies would seal Championship football next season for Fulham and West Brom.

On this day five years ago, Leicester defied all odds and lifted the Premier League title in what was a remarkable underdog story.

Team news

Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that defenders Jonny Evans and Ricardo Pereira are both fit. Evans had a scan on a foot tissue injury but is expected to be fine for the Friday night clash.

Jamie Vardy is also expected to be available after he sustained ankle swelling during the 1-1 draw with Southampton.

Wes Morgan is not yet ready for action as he’s currently recovering from a back injury. Harvey Barnes and James Justin are also recovering from long term knee injuries.

Newcastle defender Fabian Schar will miss the game after the club failed in an appeal to have his red card overturned after he was sent off in stoppage time for a late challenge on Martinelli against Arsenal.

On loan midfielder Joe Willock is back in contention after having to sit out against his parent club.

Elliot Anderson, Karl Darlow, Isaac Hayden, Jamaal Lascelles and Ryan Fraser remain sidelined.

Kick off time and where to watch

Kick-off is scheduled for 8pm on the 7th of May.

Leicester vs Newcastle will be shown live on Sky Sports Premier League and Main Event from 7:30pm.

Prediction

We expect Leicester to consolidate their Champions League place for next season after this game. Newcastle are all but safe and motivation levels could be low as Leicester will look to capitalise on this.

Score prediction: Leicester 3-1 Newcastle
