Willian double see’s Chelsea consolidate top four spot

Lampard’s side came into the game with four defeats in their last five Premier League games, the Blues desperate to regain some form. Spurs had found some recent form since the appointment of Jose Mourinho and had the chance to leapfrog the Blues with a win.

Willian broke the deadlock in the 12th minute, the Brazilian driving himself into space on the edge of the box and firing the ball across the box into right corner.

Willian doubled the lead for Lampard’s side on the stroke of half time. Spurs goalkeeper Gazzaniga rashly charging into Marcos Alonso inside of the box, awarding Chelsea the penalty. Willian cooly slotted the ball into the bottom right corner, sending Gazzaniga the wrong way.

Spurs went down to 10 men in the 62nd minute with VAR showing Heung-Min Son kicking Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger in the ribs.

Chelsea sit 4th in the Premier League table, establishing a 4 point leading between them and 5th place Sheffield United. Tottenham Hotspur currently sit in 7th with 6 points off a Champions League spot.
