Euro 2021: Mason Greenwood out due to injury

Manchester United forward, Mason Greenwood has been ruled out by his club for the upcoming EURO 2021 tournament. The cause of the decision is an underlying injury. Gareth Southgate had initially selected him for his 33-man provisional squad. However, he will miss the rest of the tournament indefinitely.

Manchester United and their coaching staff announced the decision on Tuesday morning. They pulled him out so that he can recover fully and be monitored closely under the United medical trainers.

Members from the management team recently said:  “Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood has withdrawn from the provisional England Euro 2020 squad, in order to recover fully from an underlying injury that also kept him out of the Under-21 European Championship in March.

Furthermore, the club said that they have been managing his seasonal and international appearances since March. He also missed the European Championship in March with the England U21 team.

The young star is only 19-years-old and has a bright future ahead of him. United decided not to risk him due to concern over his physical health and his growing potential for the future. Even though Mason Greenwood is a valuable piece, this just makes Gareth Southgate’s final selection for EURO 2021 easier.

Greenwood finished the season with 12 goals and is a promising prospect for the future of Manchester United and the Three Lions. Unfortunately, he will not be getting any international appearances and experience in the upcoming summer.
