In what was a thrilling fight all round, Fury’s combinations followed by a right-hand dropped a brave and determined Wilder to the canvas, in what proved to be enough for the referee to wave the fight off.
Fury was relentless in the last couple of rounds to stop the Bronze Bomber, scoring his second knockdown of the fight before going for the kill in round 11. Despite this, the fighter from Alabama showed heart and courage to keep going, keep himself on his feet and fight on.
With both fighters coming into the fight at their heaviest and with the bad blood stemming from the second fight, the two fighters came in focused to not only win but also prove they are number one in the division.
From the word go, Wilder was on the offensive with his jabs to the body of the Gypsy King seeming to be effective in the early rounds.
Fury then started to work himself back into the fight, making his punches known in the early rounds, scoring himself his first knockdown of the fight in the third round with a right-hand of his own.
With Wilder’s explosive power, he showed everyone why he has a fearsome right-hand as he scored two knockdowns in round four to get himself back into the fight.
As the fight went on, the two fighters showed respect for each other’s strengths in the ring as they both landed big shots in the coming rounds, not giving each other an inch in the ring, and looking to end the fight early.
Despite all that was said and done in the last two fights, this trilogy fight showed unpredictability and an excitement not seen in a heavyweight title fight for a long time and whatever happens next, both fighters showed their greatness on the night.
