UEFA Euro 2020 – Top 5 football players to watch
Players to watch out for in Euro 2021
Top 5 football players to watch at UEFA Euro 2020/2021
Taking place a year later than originally planned, the UEFA European Football Championship takes place this summer. In this article we will take a look at 5 players who could make a big impact at the tournament.
Joao Felix – Portugal
Thriving in an attacking position and playing with flair is uncommon when playing under Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid, but Joao Felix has been able to show glimpses of his talent with such vigour. Portugal are placed in arguably the toughest group, so if they are to progress to the knockout phase, players such as Joao Felix will need to step up to the mantle. The further Portugal progress, the greater the impact football fans will be able to see from the talent that is Joao Felix.

Dominik Szoboszlai – Hungary
Having transferred in the January transfer window from RB Salzburg to RB Leipzig, Szoboszlai has been consistently putting in top performances over the past few seasons. Despite Hungary being considerable outsiders for Euro 2020, their star-man Szoboszlai should get football fans talking about the quality he brings to the side.
Playing part of a team that does not contain other star players may be of benefit to the youngster. Having starred at RB Salzburg, the exposure and impact he has becomes even more prominent. Though it looks unlikely Hungary will progress past the group stage, with a very difficult group, he should have enough time to put in the dazzling performances he is capable of producing.

Phil Foden – England
The Manchester City maestro has enjoyed a very successful campaign in the Premier League thus far and will be hoping to use that momentum to make his way into Gareth Southgate’s plans this summer. The dynamic midfielder has played a number of positions under Pep Guardiola this season and seems to thrive wherever he is placed in the team.
That versatility may help boost his chances of starting for England this summer, and if he does, he looks set to make a significant impact. He would not be under-pressure as he is not considered as one of the experienced players. This situation is similar to that of his position at Man City. Therefore, we can expect to see him put in similar levels of performances we have seen on display from him this season.

Gianluigi Donnarumma – Italy
Being 22 years of age for any footballer is considered young, but even more so when the players position is that of a goalkeeper. Gianluigi Donnarumma is already an experienced club level goalkeeper, making his debut incredibly at 16 years of age. He has been between the sticks for Italian side, AC Milan, for the past 6 years. He also has experience as the starting goalkeeper for the Italian national team.
Having big gloves to fill will add some pressure for the youngster, with constant comparisons to Gianluigi Buffon. Although, this has been something Donnarumma has had to deal with when he first emerged as goalkeeper for AC Milan. The commanding keeper looks set for an impressive Euro 2020 campaign.

Alexander Isak – Sweden
The 21 year old Swedish centre forward is currently impressing in La Liga. His stats have caught the eyes of many, with 12 goals and 2 assists in 20 matches. It is no surprise that the Swede has been linked with a move back to Borussia Dortmund this summer. There are suggestions that a buy-back-clause was inserted in his contract with Real Sociedad.
If Erling Haaland does depart from Signal Iduna Park this summer, Isak could be his replacement. Being able to impress at Euro 2020 could play a big part in Isak’s club career. Therefore, we can expect big things from the young centre forward this coming June.
