Chelsea V Man Utd – Match Report
Solskjaer’s side frustrated Chelsea today at Stamford Bridge as Manchester United held the blues to a draw. It was an important match for both teams as the London club were looking for a win to go above West Ham in the top four whilst United were looking to bridge the gap with rivals Manchester City.
The home team got off to a good start, producing great build up play in midfield with a Giroud header getting on the end of Mount’s cross in the box, which went behind for a corner.
The Blues were dominant in possession as Hudson-Odoi’s brilliant cross into the penalty area was cleared by Lindelof for another corner. Hudson-Odoi was later in the centre of some controversy, as VAR came into play for a possible handball in the penalty area, in which referee Stuart Attwell ended up ruling against.
The wing-back certainly made his presence felt in the game as his attempt on goal in the box fell just wide from the post, his early crosses again causing the opposition defence problems.

Chelsea carried their dominance into the second half, with Chilwell’s ball into the area met Ziyech, who’s shot was saved by De Gea.
Dan James gave the away side hope some in attack, although his shot was blocked by Rudiger, whilst Greenwood was close to giving his team the lead as his effort from outside the area was hit just over the bar.
The game started to open up for both teams in the second half as Mason Mount and Fred failed to capitalise on opportunities to break the deadlock, with their efforts in and out of the box.
Chelsea kept piling on the pressure deep into the second half as they searched for a winner, but the home side didn’t do enough to win the game.
The result leaves Chelsea still in fifth place still a point behind West Ham whilst Man United are still ahead of Leicester City by a point but remain twelve points behind rivals Manchester City.
