Newcastle United Manager In Hotseat

Newcastle United manager, Steve Bruce is the favourite to be the next Premier League manager to leave their post following Watford’s sacking of Xisco Munoz, according to BetVictor.

The Magpies are currently in the bottom three going into the international break. Bruce is under pressure with odds of 4/1 given for him to be the next Premier League manager to depart. Last week rumours emerged that he was considering quitting his role and given the team’s form on the pitch this season, the pressure will continue to mount. Since his appointment in July 2019, Bruce has only won 23 of his 83 games in charge, with their last victory coming on the final day of last season.

Close behind the Newcastle United manager in the betting is Norwich’s Daniel Farke, who is another possible contender with the German the second favourite for the sack at 5/1. The Canaries have had another woeful start on their return to the English top flight and have yet to taste victory this season. Their only point came last weekend against another relegation-threatened team, Burnley.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (6/1) also appears to be in the firing line as the Manchester United manager. Reports are beginning to come out of Old Trafford that a number of players are unhappy with Solskjaer, following Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Everton. Big things were expected from United this season, following significant investment during the summer. Despite making several big name signings there are signs that the United boss might not have long left. The situation looks even bleaker for the Norwegian when you take a look at United’s upcoming fixtures, with games against Manchester City, Liverpool and Atalanta (twice), all on the horizon.

Tottenham’s manager, Nuno Espirito Santo is currently priced at the same odds (6/1) to be the next to leave their post. This is an interesting price given that new contract information has recently been made public by Spurs’ chairman, Daniel Levy. Apparently Tottenham can sack Espirito Santo in the summer, without having to pay off the remainder of his contract, should the team fail to finish in the top 6. Given Levy’s reputation, it would not be a surprise to see the former Wolves boss stay in the job for the remainder of the season, of it means saving the club some money in the long term.

Rounding out the top five manager’s facing the chop is Watford’s new appointment Claudio Ranieri, who is already just 8/1 to be the next to go. The Italian faces a hugely challenging fixture list over his first six games in charge and could be out of a job before Christmas. The Hornets have the daunting prospect of facing, Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Leicester City and Everton in the next 2 months. When we look at how impatient Watford owner, Gino Pozzo, has been with previous managers, this price could be the most tempting of them all!
