Inzaghi takes over at Inter Milan

Simone Inzaghi has been appointed as manager of Inter Milan, taking over from Antonio Conte. Having signed a contract with the Italian giants until 2023.

Conte left the club by mutual consent last week after guiding Inter to their first Serie A title in 11 years. As well as signing high profile players such as Romelu Lukaku and Christian Eriksen. A deal was agreed with the club owners which meant that he would be paid £6 million for the final year of his contract.

The reason for his departure is believed to be due to the club owners wanting to downsize the squad and potentially sell £70 million worth of players. Which was something Conte did not agree with or want to be apart of. The Italian has been linked with Tottenham since his departure.

As for Inzaghi, he inherits a title winning squad having left fellow Serie A side Lazio, after 4 years in charge of the club which he has been at since joining as a player in 1999. It is fair to say that the the 45-year-old overachieved during his time as manager at Lazio winning 3 trophies with a very limited budget. As well as getting them back into the Champions League for the first time in 13 years.

Inzaghi will now look to replicate Conte’s title winning season, and prove that he is the right man to turn Inter Milan back into one of the biggest and most feared teams in Europe.
