NFL – Week Four: Best Spread Bets
NFL – Week Four: Best Spread Bets
These are my favorite picks for week four spread bets in the NFL. All spreads are taken from BET365. They are based on previous form and all statistics that are available in the game with emphasis upon defense yards allowed and offense yards gained in both rushing and passing.
Denver Bronco’s -2.5 @ the New York Jets on Thursday Night Football, Thursday 1st October.
The Jets enter this game 0-3 for the third straight year and head coach Adam Gase must be feeling the heat of a mid-season sacking as he continues to struggle to turn around the Jets franchise. Their first round draft pick in Mekhi Becton left the game early against the Colts and their star running back Le’Veon Bell remains on IR with Wide Receiver’s Denzel Mims and Breshad Perriman both doubts for this game.
Sam Darnold’s offence which struggled against the Colts with the young quarterback throwing three interceptions shows no sign of changing their form, especially on a short week. Although, these the Jets did beat the Bronco’s two years ago at MetLife Stadium, the Bronco’s should have enough firepower to put away the Jets thanks to one of the best Tight Ends in the game in Noah Fant.
At Least, Bruce Arians thinks Fant is, in his comments before last week’s Buccaneers, Bronco’s game. Although, the Broncos are 0-3 themselves, Defensive End Shelby Harris is off the back of a two-sack game and running back Melvin Gordon will look to have an impact game against the Jets run defense which is ranked 25th in the league. He also hasn’t gone three games without a touchdown since the first three games of the 2019 season. The Bronco’s should win this game by more than a field goal despite Drew Lock being absent as the Jets woes continue to 0-4.
Pick of the Week? Indianapolis Colts -2.5 @ the Chicago Bears, Sunday 4th October.
The Bears may have a better record than the 2-1 Colts, but they are in many people’s eyes the softest 3-0 team in the league. Sure, a Nick Foles led Bears did fight brave to come back from 20-10 down at home to the Falcons last week but the Falcons are blowing leads every week.
They will have their work cut out for them against the league’s highest rated defense who had two pick sixes last week against Sam Darnold. The Colt’s pass defense is rock solid as they have allowed the least number of passing yards and they have also allowed the fourth lowest number of rushing yards. This all spells danger for Nick Foles as he looks to starts his first game as a Chicago Bear and without running back Tarik Cohen, who has a suspect torn ACL, the bears’ offence will struggle against this Colts defense.
The Chicago Bears defense, which is middle of the pack in total yards allowed, will be unable to keep them in the game, as Phillip River and their offensive line gets the job done by a least a field goal in the windy city.
Rams -13 at home to the New York Giants, Sunday 4th October.
The LA Rams will bounce back from their last-minute loss to the Buffalo Bills in superb fashion with a large win against the struggling New York Giants. The Giants offense has the second fewest total yards, only 45 yards behind the Jets which says a lot about this Giants team, and their defense had a bad day at the office against a banged-up 49ers last week.
The 49ers visited the Red Zone six times and scored 4 touchdowns with 2 field goals, this was all without Garoppolo or George Kittle on the field. I expect Sean McVay and all his creativity to easily find a way to carve up the Giants defense just as they did against the formidable Bills defense as they went 28-3 in the third quarter make a fight of the game.
The Rams will have plenty of motivation for this game as well as the NFC West is wide open with the division having a combined record of 11-3 and they will continue their push for the playoffs with a win against the Giants by a big margin. The Rams offence rushes more than anyone and they have 511 yards on the ground with Henderson having over 100 yards against the Bills who only allowed three 100-yard rushers last season.
This all spells a complete blowout for the Rams over the Giants as they look to continue their push for the playoffs in the most competitive division in football against a Giants team which can’t keep anyone out of the RedZone. This is all without mentioning the two-time defensive player of the year Aaron Donald who will surely continue his excellent form into this game.
