Scottish Premiership: Rangers Lose 100% Win Record

Rangers held to draw by Livingston

With Celtic and Aberdeen both still in isolation following coronavirus breaches, Rangers had the opportunity to open up a gap to the two sides who are typically their closest rivals.

Steven Gerrard took his side and their perfect record to Livingston, however, Gerrard couldn’t have expected to see his side halted as they missed the chance to go eight points clear of Celtic.

Livingston keeper Max Stryjek made one stunning save from a Borna Barisic free-kick and Ryan Kent twice came close for the visitors, however the hosts stood firm to earn an impressive and unlikely point. Rangers did still return to the summit of the Scottish Premiership ahead of Hibernian on goal difference, the Gers are also still yet to concede this season.

Hibernian themselves could not capitalise on their game advantage in the evening kick-off on Saturday as they could only manage a goalless draw of their own at home to Motherwell. The Easter Road club remains in second place, three points ahead of high flying Ross County.

That three-point gap could have been banished had Ross County won their own match on Saturday, the Global Energy Stadium saw visitors Dundee United leave with all three points to jump to fourth and move level on points with their hosts. Peter Pawlett and Nicky Clark with the United goals.

Elsewhere St Johnstone and St Mirren completed a trio of away wins in the Scottish Premiership as they sunk their hosts Kilmarnock and Hamilton Academical respectively. The defeat for Hamilton was their third in as many matches and leaves them bottom of the table, yet to earn a point.

Celtic will return to action this week in the Champions League qualifiers as they host the Icelandic side KR Reykjavik. The hoops will then return to league action as well as their league counterparts next Saturday as they visit Dundee United, whilst Rangers face Kilmarnock at Ibrox.
