Five Transfer to Make Manchester United Premier League Winners

As the transfer window opens Manchester United will be looking to strengthen ahead of next season.

The Premier League season came to its conclusion last weekend, but the title race had been a formality since the Christmas period. Liverpool cantered to the title, finishing 18 points clear of their nearest rivals, Manchester City.

Many fans will be hoping for a more competitive season next term. One of the teams who will be hoping to dislodge the top two from their duopoly over the title race in recent years will be Manchester United.

Potential Red Devils

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team finished third in the League, securing Champions League football in the process. They were the best team since the restart and have picked up the most points since the arrival of Bruno Fernandes in January.

The Red Devils will be looking to bring the Premier League to Old Trafford for the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson retired but will need reinforcements. So which signings could make Manchester United Premier League winners next year?

Jadon Sancho

Jadon Sancho has long been linked with a transfer back to Manchester, and at this point the move seems to be formality. Sancho left United’s local rivals City to move to Borussia Dortmund two seasons ago and has thrived in Germany ever since.

The 20 year-old registered 17 goals and 17 assists in 32 Bundesliga games this season. He would provide another frightening option for United’s attack. United have been crying out for a right winger this season, and whilst Mason Greenwood has looked impressive there at points his long-term future seems to be as a main striker.

Jack Grealish

Media speculation linking the Aston Villa Captain to Old Trafford has been rife for weeks now. Jack Grealish looked set to be relegated with Villa before his heroics helped keep the Midlands club in the top-flight, his goal securing a 1-1 draw with West Ham on the last day to keep them up.

Grealish was the most fouled player in the Premier League this season, and his ability on the ball would be an asset to any top side. Whilst not guaranteed a starting spot at United he would provide competition for Fernandes, who appeared in desperate need of a rest for the final few games.

Solskjaer clearly doesn’t trust his current midfield options and the 24-year-old looks like a ready-made replacement for the ageing Juan Mata and inconsistent Andreas Pereira. A reported £80m price tag has been slapped on him though which could put off potential suitors.

Callum Wilson

Callum Wilson has just been relegated with Bournemouth but a player of his ability looks set to remain in the Premier League.

United are lacking depth upfront and whilst Odion Ighalo has been prolific when handed starts in the cup competitions he has failed to make an impact off the bench in the league, failing to score a single goal.

A proven finisher at the top level he would certainly be a fantastic squad option for Solskjaer. The player will need to top-flight football if he is to force his way into the England squad for Euro 2021. A reported £10m fee makes the move a no-brainer.

Lucas Digne

Lucas Digne has looked a revelation at Everton, seamlessly replacing club legend Leighton Baines. The Toffees have been linked with Real Madrid left-back Sergio Reguilon, which suggest Digne may be looking for a transfer from Merseyside.

Luke Shaw has missed over 113 games for United since his arrival at the club. He picked up another injury at the end of the season and missed the run in. United need a player they can rely on to stay fit every week. Digne is Premier League proven and has experience playing for some of the biggest clubs in the world after time at PSG and Barcelona.

Declan Rice

Declan Rice has been impressive at West Ham and the top clubs seem to be circling. The lure of Champions League football may be too much for Rice to resist as both United and Chelsea are known admirers.

The 21-year-old can plug the gap in United’s midfield for the next decade. Being mentored by Nemanja Matic and Michael Carrick could turn Rice into one of the most complete defensive midfielders in the game. His ability to cover at centre-back would also appeal to Solskjaer as Phil Jones, Axel Tuanzebe and Eric Bailly have rarely been available for selection this season.

He didn’t miss a game for the Hammers in the league this season. Potentially coupled with the arrival of Grealish he would certainly bolster United’s squad depth and allow them to compete on all fronts next season.
