Cherry picking: Which Bournemouth players could move?

Cherries ripe for picking

Despite a 3-1 away victory on the final day away to Everton, the Cherries were ultimately relegated and now face the prospect of Championship football next season. Several Bournemouth players may now be looking to stay at the party as their club leaves.

Howe can they move on?

Much has been made of manager Eddie Howe potentially moving on to pastures new should the lure of a bigger club become too good to resist. However, now it’s perhaps his players attracting attention from those who remain in the Premier League.

Some may fairly question the logic in signing players from a recently relegated club. Nonetheless, there are often gems within the collective rough. Just look at the success the current Premier League champions have had, signing both Andy Robertson and Gini Wijnaldum from relegated sides.

So which players at The Vitality Stadium could be ripe for a Cherry picking?

Nathan Ake

Of all the Bournemouth players on this list, Ake is perhaps the most likely to attract a bigger club’s attention this summer. A regular performer for the Cherries in all their recent top-flight campaigns. The Dutch centre-half is bound to receive offers, and may welcome any opportunity to continue plying his trade amongst the elite.

Clubs who may be interested in his services include Man City, Liverpool, and Tottenham.

Aaron Ramsdale

The 22-year-old has been impressive in an otherwise hapless season for the South Coast club. Despite shipping the second-highest amount of goals in the league, Ramsdale has kept his sides in numerous contests and may seek a move to continue his development at the top level.

Crystal Palace and Everton may be wise to look at Ramsdale as a viable alternative to their current number one picks.

Joshua King

The former Manchester United man has at times led the line all by himself. His search for goals to ensure Premier League survival was impressive. At only 28, the Norway international still has plenty to offer at this level.

With six goals in a struggling side, King could prove an option for the likes of Aston Villa and West Ham.

Callum Wilson

The striker has recently been part of numerous England squads, earning four caps and scoring once along the way. He will surely be one of the first names on a lot of teams recruitment lists this summer.

With only seven goals this season and a growing injury list, his best days are perhaps behind him. However, his 14 goals in the 2018/19 campaign make him hot property following the Bournemouth relegation.

Both Newcastle United and Aston Villa could use someone with Wilson’s firepower upfront.

David Brooks

Injury may have obliterated the Welshman’s season this time around, however, his seven goals in 30 appearances during 2018/19 make the 23-year-old an interesting prospect at least.

Capped 12 times by Wales, Brooks certainly seemed to have the world at his feet prior to his ankle injury. Now back to fitness, he finished the season with one goal in his seven appearances.

His previous potential makes him an attractive proposition for Sheffield United and Everton, amongst others.

There is little doubt that clubs will be sniffing around some of Bournemouth’s best assets following their relegation. Whether the Cherries can keep hold of them may be crucial in their attempts to bounce straight back.
